Origami Beating Heart Step 1: Start with a 6 inch x 6 inch (15cm x 15cm) square origami paper, color side down.
Fold paper in half on the horizontal axis, bringing the bottom edge to meet the top.
Origami Beating Heart Step 2: Fold paper in half, this time on the vertical axis. Crease well and unfold.
Origami Beating Heart Step 3: Fold both sides to meet in the center.
Origami Beating Heart Step 4: Flip paper over.
Origami Beating Heart Step 5: Fold the right side to meet the center crease. Do not creaseon the upper layer of paper. Allow it to just move from underneath to the top.
Origami Beating Heart Step 6: Repeat Step 5 for the left side.
Origami Beating Heart Step 7: Flip paper over and rotate.
Origami Beating Heart Step 8: We now need to make a petal fold which means that first we need to make 3 creases as shown below.
Open up the paper and press it flat on the creases to complete the petal fold.
Origami Beating Heart Step 9: Fold down the middle tip. Crease well and unfold.
Origami Beating Heart Step 10: Fold the bottom right tip to meet that horizontal crease.
Origami Beating Heart Step 11: Now make a diagonal fold as indicated below. Crease well and unfold.
Origami Beating Heart Step 12: Now we'll swivel the bottom part over to the right. Then tuck the paper under.
Origami Beating Heart Step 13: OK, we just have to repeat Steps 10 to 12 on the left side. First fold up the tip to meet the horizontal crease.
Then make the diagonal fold.
Now unfold the previous step, swivel the paper slightly to the left and tuck it under just like you did for the right side.
Origami Beating Heart Step 14: We're almost done! Fold the right and left tips inwards slightly to complete the heart shape.
Now fold down the tab in the middle. You place your thumb and index finger on this tab to make your heart beat. By flexing your index finger against the paper, it will cause the paper to move back and forth as though your heart is beating.
and your origami beating heart is complete!
